In the midst of our trip abroad, we received the opportunity to go visit Scotland for a few days. While here, we got to experience scottish by visiting landmarks and eating their food. The weather here was much cooler than London and the Architecture was much more medieval looking and beautiful.
Edinburgh Castle- Castle on a Hill
As soon as we touched down in Scotland, our first stop was Edinburgh Castle. This Castle is one of the oldest Castles in Europe. The castle contains the oldest building in Scotland- a chapel built for Queen Maragret. The only Monarch to be born in this castle was the son of Mary, Queen of Scots who later ruled both Scotland and England united. This castle contains some of Scotland’s oldest history and is very beautiful.
The Scottish Parliament - Lovely Architecture
Our next visit during our trip in Edinburgh was the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish Parliament was nothing like anything I have seen before. The architecture was very well thought out and gorgeous. As we took our tour around the Parliament, we learned the small details in each piece of architecture around the Parliament. After our tour, we got to meet with a lovely lady who explained her job and the Public Relations side of Parliament. It was very interesting to learn about the Scottish government and the differences between the UK and Scottish Parliament.
The Whiskey Experience- Whisky Tasting
To top off our experience in Scotland, we ended our trip with Whisky Tasting. Our Whisky tasting experience included a lovely tour on a small train ride that took us through the history of Scottish whisky and the steps of creating it. The tour also included a viewing of the World's largest whisky collection. To top it off we got to try a whisky and keep the glass!
Each of these experiences helped me further understand the Culture in Scotland in a cool, fun way. It was so nice to get away from the London heat and see new things!
